What is Palliative Care?

Palliative care is a 24/7 care service provided to those who are nearing the end of their lives. Palliative care is also commonly known as end-of-life care.

This compassionate approach to care provides comfort and support to those who are in the final stages of their lives, due to natural deterioration, a terminal illness, or a progressive health condition.

During a difficult and emotional time in one’s life, the focus of palliative care is to alleviate pain and symptoms as much as possible, while maintaining the dignity of an individual and ensuring wishes are met. The care team also provides support to residents’ loved ones.
